District Court. Lea v. Carey. Bill, Answer and Evidence. [cover title, and offered with:] No. 2 March 2. March Term, 1847. In Equity. Maria Carey vs. Isaac Lea and Frances A. Lea. Answer of Defendants. [cover title]

1. [Philadelphia, n.d., 1845?] 8vo, printed pamphlet, 32 pp., mild browning to wraps; light creases; very good. 2. [Philadelphia, 1847.] 8vo, self-wrappers, stitched, [1, title leaf], 88-200 pp., as issued, unopened. Slightly dust-soiled; very good.
Apparently involving the estate of political economist Henry C. Carey and/or his immediate relatives, family quibbling over Carey heirlooms and possessions. Perhaps most useful as a narrative thread within both pamphlets documents with good specificity the material culture of the Carey & Lea kin: inventory of furniture, precious art, furniture. Meredith, Cadwalader represented the defendants.
Not surprisingly, both items are scarce. The first appears unlocated within OCLC. OCLC 26487390 suggests that one copy of the second may be known OCLC 436915985, one copy, separate item related to this dispute.
