Map of the City of Tacoma W.T. and Vicinity. Pacific Terminus N.P.R.R. Compiled by W.G. Peters, Draughtsman ...

[Portland, Oregon]: [Published for Allen C. Mason ; A. Anderson & Co., Map Engravers], [ca. 1886]. Map, lithographed, approx. 30½ x 20½ inches (measuring from neat line to neat line, outer measurements are 32½ x 22½), ample margins, uncolored. Near fine: light browning; creases where formerly folded, some fold lines expertly strengthened with tissue.
In the 1880’s, Tacoma continued to be the western terminus of the Northern Pacific Railroad in the Washington Territory and played an important role in expanding and growing the Pacific West economy. This mat illustrated the locations of block numbers, the names of tracts, the locations of notable buildings, and the curving North Pacific Railroad lines. Among the larger tract lots are the Park & Boulevard Additions; Smith and Fife’s Addition; Tacoma Land Company’s First Addition; Oakes Addition; Cascade Park Addition; White & Ouimette’s Addition, Ouimette & Metzler’s Addition, and so forth.
