The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company was founded in 1847. The original name of the company was the Rock Island and LaSalle Rail Road Company. The railroad firm was reincorporated as the Chicago and Rock Island Rail Road Company in 1851. The company’s by-laws were adopted via this pamphlet in 1858. By 1880, this Illinois company was reorganized, yet again, under the name of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company.
