Please let us know a few basic things when contacting us about your books, manuscripts, documents or letters for sale.
a.) Do you have several items or a large library and/or estate collection of books and/or historical manuscripts or documents? (We travel extensively to purchase large collections.)
b.) Author, title, date, publisher, city of publication. Is the book stated as a first edition, a particular printing, one of x amount of copies printed? How is the book bound? Is it leather? Cloth? Is there a dust jacket?
c.) Is there anything unusual about the book? Is it signed? Does it have any interesting inscription from the author? Is there a story behind this particular book? Was the author a friend of the family or a colleague?
d.) Condition. How does the book look? Is the binding rubbed and scuffed? Are the hinges cracked? Are pages missing? Are the covers attached?
e.) For manuscripts and paper ephemera, diaries, documents or letters, ledgers, business archives, etc. please provide as much background information as possible. What is historically interesting or unusual about these items? Are they signed by a famous historical figure? Are they addressed to or are about someone of historical prominence?
Note: We can only make purchase offers for books that we have customers for, and for material that is in suitable condition for the needs of our customers. If your material does not fit within the scope of our inventory it may not receive a purchase offer.
Upon agreement to accept our purchase offer, payment is remitted same day.
